The six content areas (by weight)
- Conducting Accounting Functions — 32%: accounts receivable/payable, cash flow, payroll, financial ratios, job costing, tax filing.
- Managing Administrative Duties — 26%: business overhead, bids and contracts, lien law, insurance, purchasing, draw requests, payroll taxes.
- Complying with Government Regulations — 15%: federal and Florida law — Chapters 489, 455, 713, 440; OSHA; environmental.
- Establishing the Contracting Business — 11%: business structures, licensure (certified vs registered), qualifying agent, bonding, insurance basics.
- Managing Trade Operations — 10%: scheduling (CPM), equipment lease/buy and depreciation, purchasing, submittals.
- Managing Human Resources — 6%: hiring, employment and discrimination law, drug testing, evaluations.

- Establishing the Business: A "certified" Florida contractor may work anywhere in the state; a "registered" contractor is limited to the local jurisdiction where competency was established.
- Administrative Duties: A Notice to Owner must generally be served within 45 days of first furnishing; a Claim of Lien recorded within 90 days of last furnishing (Ch. 713).
- Accounting Functions: Current ratio = current assets ÷ current liabilities; net profit margin = net profit ÷ revenue.
- Government Regulations: A work-related fatality must be reported to OSHA within 8 hours; in-patient hospitalizations within 24 hours.
